Cap d'Agde was purpose-built from dunes and pine forest in 1963 by the French government's Mission Racine. Today it is one of Europe's largest beach resorts: a 15,000-berth marina, 14 km of sandy beach, the Leisure Island with Dino World and Luna Park, and an independent naturist village.
