Mont Saint-Loup is the extinct volcano (active 740,000 years ago) that dominates Cap d'Agde. Its black basalt was quarried to build all of Agde's historic buildings. From the 113 m summit, a 360° panorama sweeps over the Mediterranean, Fort Brescou, Agde, the Étang de Thau and the Bagnas reserve.
Access forbidden during red fire-risk alert. In summer the trail may be closed during high fire danger. Check before visiting.
